As soon as you arrive in the city center, you start to get a sense of the types of activities you can do: ziplining, cycling, canyoning, river rafting, and kayaking, among others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That said, there\u2019s something in Ba\u00f1os for everyone, including families with small children and the lazy traveler that prefers to lounge in thermal baths and eat good food (that would be me).<\/span><br \/>\n<i><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Tip: If you\u2019re ziplining, bungee jumping river rafting and other adventure activities, make sure you\u2019ve invested in travel insurance!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19005 size-full\" title=\"How long should you stay at Ba\u00f1os?\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wanderbusecuador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/ar-pn-andes-tungurahua-banos-171.jpeg\" alt=\"How long should you stay at Ba\u00f1os?\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1607\" \/><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How long should you stay at Ba\u00f1os?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Most people will only spend <\/span><b>a couple of nights in Ba\u00f1os<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and then either head into the Andes through Riobamba and Cuenca or travel into the Amazon on a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wanderbusecuador.com\/amazon-rainforest-tours\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">multi-day rainforest tour.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Others like Ba\u00f1os so much, they make it a \u201chome base\u201d as they explore other areas of the country on day trips. This preference is due to the location of Ba\u00f1os (between the Andes and the Amazon), but also because it offers travelers a number of comfortable and affordable hostels and restaurants to choose from<\/span><i>.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Two Day Itinerary in Ba\u00f1os<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you only have a couple of days to spare in Ba\u00f1os, this itinerary will get you to all the best spots in and around the city:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Day 1<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">8:00: Eat breakfast at your hostel <\/span><\/li>\n<li>9:00 to 14:30: Go on a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wanderbusecuador.com\/product\/rafting-in-banos\/\"> half-day river rafting excursion<\/a>. Make sure to use sunscreen!<\/li>\n<li>16:00 If you can splurge, go to <a href=\"https:\/\/lunavolcan.com\/luna-spa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luna Spa<\/a> for their thermal baths and massage, otherwise head to El Salado Hot Springs (you might need a $1.50 taxi to get there)<\/li>\n<li>20:00 Dinner at Leoni Pizzer\u00eda<\/li>\n<li>22:00 Pass out, you deserve it! (River rafting is exhausting.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Day 2<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">8:00 Breakfast at Cafe Good<\/span><\/li>\n<li>9:00 &#8211; 13:00 Rent bikes and do the Waterfall Route, stopping to zipline near Cascada Agoy\u00e1n. Make sure to ride the cable car at Manto de la Novia and definitely visit Pail\u00f3n del Diablo! If you don\u2019t feel like biking back to Ba\u00f1os, you\u2019ll find pick-up trucks to take you back for $2 or just wait for a big blue bus.<\/li>\n<li>13:00 &#8211; Lunch at Carpe Diem Di Verdi<\/li>\n<li>14:30 &#8211; Head up to Casa del \u00c1rbol for a picture swinging at the edge of the world (it takes about 40 minutes to get here, each way)<\/li>\n<li>17:00 &#8211; Walk to Nuestra Se\u00f1ora del Agua Santa, one of the main churches in Ba\u00f1os, to appreciate some local culture.<\/li>\n<li>19:00 Dine at the Swiss Bistro, drink a little too much wine and\u2026<\/li>\n<li>22:00 Pass out or head over to Eloy Alfaro Street to keep the party going<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19007 size-full\" title=\"Day trips itinerary from Ba\u00f1os\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wanderbusecuador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/img-20180425-wa0034-1.jpg\" alt=\"Day trips itinerary from Ba\u00f1os\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" \/><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Day trips itinerary from Ba\u00f1os (four days)<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Perhaps you\u2019d prefer to use Ba\u00f1os as a jumping-off point to visit other nearby areas. Good idea! Here\u2019s a sample four-day itinerary:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Day 1:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Enjoy Ba\u00f1os and its surroundings first! Choose either Day 1 or 2 from the previous itinerary (I recommend Day 2 unless you really love river rafting.).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Day 2:<\/b> Visit the Amazon Rainforest on a day tour. This will likely consume the entire day, from dawn until around 8 pm. Though tours may vary, you can expect to visit an animal sanctuary, a Kichwa indigenous community and go on a canoe ride. Make sure hotel pick up\/drop off, a professional guide and lunch are included and don\u2019t forget sun protection, especially if a canoe ride is involved!<\/li>\n<li><b>Day 3:<\/b> If you haven\u2019t already, go on a day tour to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wanderbusecuador.com\/quilotoa\/\">Quilotoa<\/a>, located about three hours from Ba\u00f1os. Hike down to the lake or around the crater ring (if you get there early enough). This day tour requires a lot of travel time (3 hours each way) so you might want to consider making it an overnight trip.<\/li>\n<li><b>Day 4:<\/b> Are you a fearless adventurer? Do you laugh in the face of danger? Climb up the active Tungurahua Volcano <b><i>with a guide<\/i><\/b>. Make sure you\u2019re in good physical condition as you\u2019ll be reaching 5,023 meters (16,480 ft) above sea level and hopefully Tungurahua doesn\u2019t erupt while you\u2019re on it!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-19009 size-full\" title=\"How to get to Ba\u00f1os\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wanderbusecuador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/tungurahua-banos-aventura-001.jpeg\" alt=\"How to get to Ba\u00f1os\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1800\" \/><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How to get to Ba\u00f1os<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you\u2019re starting from Quito, there are many options to get to Ba\u00f1os. You can either go to the Quitumbe or Carcel\u00e9n bus terminal (\u201cTerminal terrestre Quitumbe o Carcel\u00e9n\u201d) where you\u2019ll find regular buses departing to Ba\u00f1os. More buses tend to leave from Quitumbe, but getting there is a journey in it of itself. Once in Quitumbe, you\u2019ll find regular buses departing Quito to Ba\u00f1os from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for around $4. The trip takes about four hours by bus.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Always try to travel by day since bus terminals are notoriously sketchy places &#8211; keep an eye on your belongings!
