New Year’s Eve is coming up and it’s one of the most important nights of the year: we set our intentions for the new year, we spend time with people we love and we celebrate our achievements. And we party, a lot! If you are spending your New Years Eve in Ecuador, here are a few options depending on your interests and the vibe you are looking for. There is something for everyone, so read along.
For the adventurers: Baños
Baños is the capital of extreme sports and adventure in Ecuador. Here you’ll be able to do all kinds of activities, such as kayaking, hiking, bungee jumping and a swing with marvelous views of a volcano. If you are looking for a place where you can do some sports or go on adventures by day, but still have an amazing New Year’s Eve at a club or bar with your friends (or a bunch of people you don’t know you will become your friends by the end of the night), this is the perfect place for you. Find out more about Baños in this article.

For people who love city vibes: Cuenca
Cuenca is one of the most beautiful cities in Ecuador, but still has a quaint, small town vibe that makes it super easy to get around for foreigners. It has lots of museums to visit (plus, the art biennial is open until february), amazing restaurants (some of our favorites include La Caleta, Sofy and Café Libre) where you can have a perfect New Year’s Eve dinner and great bars. You’ll have all the city amenities without the chaos of spending your night in a huge metropolis. If you are looking for something bigger with more options, but still beautiful and safe, Cuenca is the perfect place for you. Check out more about Cuenca here.

If you want to party all night long: Montañita
If you are looking for a beach town where you can party for days, meet new people, learn how to surf and relax in a hammock (believe me, your hangover will demand it), Montañita is ideal for you.
Thanks to its Lost Beach Club, where many of the best DJs of the world have played, the infinite amount of street bars that offer delicious drinks and the huge amount of foreigners from all over the world who arrive here to party, Montañita is one of the funnest beaches in Latin America. We hope this tips are useful for planning your New Year’s Eve adventure. See you aboard the Wanderbus!
