Baños is the capital of extreme sports and adventure in Ecuador. Here you’ll be able to do all kinds of activities, such as kayaking, hiking, bungee jumping and a swing with marvelous views of a volcano. If you are looking for a place where you can do some sports or go on adventures by day, but still have an amazing New Year’s Eve at a club or bar with your friends (or a bunch of people you don’t know you will become your friends by the end of the night), this is the perfect place for you. Cuenca is one of the most beautiful cities in Ecuador, but still has a quaint, small town vibe that makes it super easy to get around for foreigners. It has lots of museums to visit (plus, the art biennial is open until february), amazing restaurants (some of our favorites include La Caleta, Sofy and Café Libre) where you can have a perfect New Year’s Eve dinner and great bars. You’ll have all the city amenities without the chaos of spending your night in a huge metropolis.
